Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder will miss the rest of the season with a bone bruise in his left ankle, the team announced on Friday.

Schroder suffered the injury during a game at Golden State a week ago. The Hawks said an MRI performed on Friday revealed a medial bone bruise and a Grade 2 sprain.

The team said Schroder’s recovery time will be two to four weeks. Entering Friday the Hawks had seven games remaining on the their schedule, which concludes on April 10.

Schroder, 24, started 67 games this season with team-leading averages of 19.4 points and 6.2 assists per game. He had been the focal point of the offense for the first time in his career this season after Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard departed.

The Hawks selected Schroder with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2013 draft. This season was Schroder’s first playing under the four-year, $70 million contract extension he signed in October 2016.
