The Hawks assigned Edy Tavares to the NBA Development League on Wednesday. The center will be assigned to the Austin Spurs via the flexible assignment rule.

Tavares is expected to have a short stay in Austin, likely only two games. The Spurs host the Idaho Stampede for two games on Friday and Saturday. It will be Tavares’ sixth D-League assignment.

Tavares has appeared in eight games for the Hawks and averaged 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 7.3 minutes.
