The Warriors’ Stephen Curry was named the winner of the 2015-16 Magic Johnson Award by the Professional Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday.

The award honors the player who best combines excellence on the court with cooperation and dignity in dealing with the media and public.

The Hawks’ Paul Millsap was a finalist for the award along with the Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony, the Warriors’ Draymond Green and the Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard.

The PBWA is composed of approximately 175 writers and editors, including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, who cover the NBA on a regular basis for newspapers, magazines and online outlets. The PBWA created the Magic Johnson Award in 2001. The association’s members continue to regard Johnson as the ideal model for the award.

Curry helped the Warriors to a 73-9 record, the best in regular-season mark in NBA history, and led the league in scoring at 30.1 points per game.
