Basketball Recruiting: S. Atlanta's Derrick Favors

Considered the top high school player in the nation by one recruiting service, Favors announced he'll play for Georgia Tech on Jan. 14.

The 6-foot-9 Favors is mulling over offers from Georgia Tech, Georgia, and North Carolina State. He made official visits to all three schools.

Will Favors sign on Wednesday? South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick has said it's unlikely, but also said Favors is known "for surprising."

"This is Derrick's show, from here out," South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick (right) says. "He is going to handle it how he wants to handle it."

Will Favors reveal which college he plans to attend anytime soon? Coach Reddick said there was a decent possibility of that happening, even in time for Favors to sign by the end of one-week early signing period (Nov. 19). Which school is Favors favoring? His coach said Favors has told him "some things in confidence' but that Favors would be the one making any announcements.
