Pittsburgh Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen posted a photo to his Facebook account Monday night of a baseball and letter from a young fan.
The fan, who signed the letter as Matt Graeber, wrote that he suffered a brain abscess and spent most of his time in Children’s Hospital over the summer.
“Baseball is my favorite sport and I was not sure if I would ever be able to play again. Your visit helped inspire me to get better,” Matt wrote.
In the letter, Matt wrote that he is back on the field playing baseball and hit three home runs over the weekend.
Matt - thank you for the HR ball... and the autograph! More importantly, I'm so glad you're doing better and healing....
