Tim Hudson had a short night, Jason Marquis had a long night, and neither had a successful night at the National Baseball Congress World Series Friday night in Wichita, Kansas.

The two retired pitchers were among seven former Braves who played for the Kansas Stars in a semifinal game against the the Hays (Kansas) Larks.

The National Baseball Congress is an organization of 15 amateur and semi-professional baseball leagues operating in the U.S. and Canada.

Hudson started the game and lasted just 2 1/3 innings. He have up four hits, walked six, and allowed six runs, five of them earned.

But the game went 17 innings and Marquis went to the mound in the 14th inning and pitched three innings, allowing three runs, one of them earned, in the Stars' 9-6 late-night loss. Marquis was the losing pitcher, also played left field in the game, and went 0-for-3 as a hitter.

Former Braves Pete Orr (2-for-7 with a home run), Jack Wilson (0-for-6), Adam LaRoche (1-for-6), J.D. Drew (2-for-5) and Ryan Langerhans (1-for-4) also played for the Stars.
