Shae Simmons began an injury-rehabilitation assignment with the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves Saturday.

The right-handed reliever has been on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27, with a shoulder strain. He appeared in 26 games before the injury with a 2.91 ERA, a .197 opponents’ batting average and one save.

The G-Braves began a four-game road trip Saturday with two games at Norfolk and two games at Charlotte. Simmons pitched one inning Saturday, allowing one hit while striking out one.
