Jason Heyward, 25, a fan favorite and a player that many hoped the team would build around for many years was dealt to the St. Louis Cardinals after five seasons with the Braves.

Jason Heyward, the 6-foot-5, 245 pound lefthanded 20-year-old right fielder joined the Braves in 2010. A Henry County graduate, the Braves drafted the phenom in 2007.

On April 5, 2010, Jason Heyward became the fifth player in Braves history to hit a home run in his first at bat - a three-run shot off of the Cubs' Carlos Zambrano

Jason Heyward was selected as a starter for the 2010 All-Star Game, but did not play due to an injury to his right thumb.

Jason Heyward finished his rookie season with the Braves batting .277 with a .393 on-base percentage, and 18 home runs. He finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting to the San Francisco Giants' Buster Posey.

Jason Heyward began 2011 season as he did in 2010, hitting a home run in his first at-bat of the season on March 31, 2011, off Nationals starter Livan Hernandez. Heyward is the second player to homer in his first major league at-bat to start the season.

Jason Heyward finished his second season with Atlanta, hitting .227, 14 homers, and 42 RBIs in 128 games.

Jason Heyward won two Gold Gloves patrolling the Braves' outfield, his first coming in 2012.

The Braves avoided arbitration to start the 2013 season with Jason Heyward for the first time, agreeing on a one-year, $3.65 million deal.

Mets pitcher Jon Niese hits Jason Heyward with a pitch in the face, breaking his jaw in August 2012.. Heyward had surgery and returned a month later.

The Braves and Jason Heyward agree on a two-year, $13.3 million contract to start 2014 season.

Jason Heyward appeared in 149 games his final season in Atlanta, hitting .271 with 11 homers and a .351 obp.
