How the game was won: The Padres broke open a tie game with two runs in the seventh against Braves rookie reliever Matt Marksberry, then held on for a 3-2 win to complete a three-game sweep at Petco Park. It was their 10th consecutive home win against the Braves, including three-game sweeps in each of the past three seasons. Julio Teheran pitched six strong innings for the Braves (four hits, one run, one walk, seven strikeouts) and got no decision. Nick Markakis was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a walk for the Braves, and Freddie Freeman was 1-for-3 with a single, a walk and a strikeout in his first game back from the disabled list.

Number: 2-18. The Braves' road record in their past 20 games. They've totaled just 48 runs in that stretch while posting an ERA well over 5.00.

What's next: The Braves travel to Chicago to for a four-game series against the Cubs that begins Friday at 8:05 p.m., with rookie Mike Foltynewicz (4-4, 5.61 ERA) facing Cubs ace Jake Arrieta (14-6, 2.39).
