The Braves won had a five-game winning streak capped by a sweep of the Mets in New York to move into first place in the National League East, then came home to play their most-anticipated series in years ... and laid an egg.

But getting swept by the Giants didn’t negate strides made by the Braves or even knock them out of first place.
