About the Braves:
• Batting: Chipper Jones had two hits each in the Braves’ first two games and five overall to come within five hits of 2,500 for his career. He hits .335 (81-for-242) against the Brewers for his career. Martin Prado broke a hard-luck 0-for-9 streak by going 3-for-5 Sunday. His grand slam at Miller Park last May 10 jump-started the sweep and a 10-of-12 stretch for Braves.
• Pitching: Beachy is looking for his first win in four major league starts, after beating out Mike Minor for the fifth starters’ spot in spring training. ... Lowe has won each of his past six regular season starts, including five wins last September and 2-0 on opening day against the Nats.
• Miscellaneous: Minor makes a spot start for Jair Jurrjens, who is on the DL with a strained right oblique. The Braves swept a three-game series at Miller Park last May 10-12 and have won four of five there in the past two years.
About the Brewers:
• Batting: The Brewers were outscored 23-11 in a three game sweep by the Reds. Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun had three hits in seven at-bats in the Brewers’ first two games. This lineup has never faced Beachy. ... Lowe’s old nemesis Nyjer Morgan is with the Brewers now. He’s 15-for-28 (.536) in his career off Lowe.
• Pitching: Wednesday’s starter will likely be either Sergio Mitre if the Brewers piece together nine innings from their bullpen, or they could call up Marco Estrada from Triple-A Nashville. ... The Braves will not face new Brewers ace Zach Grienke; he’s out for at least the first month after cracking a rib playing pickup basketball.
• Miscellaneous: This is the home opener for the Brewers, who just got swept in three games in Cincinnati to fall to 1-10 at the Great American Ballpark in the past two seasons. Twenty members of the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers will be throwing out ceremonial first pitches.
