The Kansas City Royals promoted former Braves reliever Peter Moylan from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Two Royals roster spots came open Thursday when Kris Medlen, another ex-Braves pitcher, and pitcher Chris Young were placed on the disabled list.

Moylan made 12 appearances this season at Omaha, allowing one earned run in 12 2/3 innings pitched. He struck out 10 and walked five, two of them intentional passes. He has a 1-1 record with a 0.71 ERA.

Moylan, a popular Braves reliever from 2006-12 and 2015, signed a minor-league contract with Kansas City in January and received a non-roster invitation to big-league camp in spring training.

Medlen, who pitched for the Braves from 2009-13, has made six starts this season and has a 1-3 record with a 7.77 ERA. In 24 1/3 innings he has walked 20 and struck out 18.
