Former Atlanta Brave Jeff Francoeur starts with the New York Mets one day after being traded from Atlanta in exchange for outfielder Ryan Church.

Jeff Francoeur opened his career as a Met with a two-run RBI against the Reds' Johnny Cueto. He struck out in his next at-bat.

With the Mets, Francoeur is wearing his old No. 12 -- the number he wore as a baseball and football star at metro Atlanta's Parkview High School. As a Brave he wore No. 7. That number's taken by Mets SS Jose Reyes.

Jeff Francoeur, who the Braves traded to the Mets on Friday, adjusts to his new uniform Saturday in Flushing, N.Y. The Braves sent the Lilburn, Ga., native to their N.L. East rivals in exchange for outfielder Ryan Church.

Jeff Francoeur awaits his turn during batting practice Saturday in New York. The newest Met was scheduled to start in right field. "To get a chance to play with them, be in a big city, play with a lot of fans out there that are very passionate is something that I'm looking forward to," Francoeur said Saturday.

Jeff Francoeur, who sported No. 12, runs in from the outfield with left fielder Angel Pagan.

Jeff Francoeur took fly balls in right field before Saturday night's game and sent a stir through Citi Field with a couple drives into the second deck in left during batting practice.

Francoeur played four years in Atlanta. He hit .250 with five homers and 35 RBIs in 82 games this season.
