RED SOX 3,

G-BRAVES 1

How the winning run scored: Starter Jair Jurrjens, who had not pitched in 11 days, worked the first two innings. But that was long enough to yield a two-run homer to Pawtucket's Dan Butler in the second, good for a lead that held up all Monday night in the first a four-game series at Coolray Park.

At the plate: With his RBI single in the seventh, Josh Kroeger broke up Gwinnett's 28-inning scoreless streak that dated back to Saturday. The G-Braves had been outscored 10-0 during the streak, their longest such streak of the season.

On the mound: Following Jurrjens, Daniel Rodriguez made his Gwinnett debut after being recently signed from Saltillo of the Mexican League. He allowed one unearned run in three hitless innings while walking three and striking out three.

Up next for Gwinnett: Left-hander Sean Gilmartin (1-1, 3.99), the organization's first-round draft pick, starts in the second game of a four-game series with Pawtuckett. Gametime has been moved to 2 p.m. due to predicted bad weather
