The Braves made a series of roster moves Thursday, activating left fielder Matt Kemp from the 10-day disabled list and recalling pitcher Aaron Blair from Triple-A Gwinnett while optioning infielder infielder Johan Camargo and reliever Luke Jackson to Triple-A.
Kemp had been out with a hamstring strain since April 7 and was activated and back in the lineup Thursday night against the Nationals, after going 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in his only minor-league rehab game Wednesday at Gwinnett.
He went 0-f0r-4 with three strikeouts in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Nationals.
Camargo, in his first major league call-up, went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and three strikeouts in five games, all his plate appearances coming as a pinch-hitter.
Jackson pitched three consecutive days in his first stint with the Braves, giving up no hits in 1 2/3 innings of his first two appearances before allowing four hits and two runs in 1 1/3 innings Thursday.
Blair was brought up to serve as a temporary long reliever after Josh Collmenter pitched three innings Thursday. Blair could return to Gwinnett as soon as Friday to make his next scheduled start Saturday for Gwinnett, but that decision wasn’t to be made until after Thursday’s game in case he were needed in the series finale against Washington.
Braves manager Brian Snitker said Collmenter would probably be ready to pitch multiple innings again as soon as Friday, if needed.
