The Braves first estimated infielder Johan Camargo would miss only a week, but they don’t expect his return until a day or two after their March 20 off-day.

Camargo has been sidelined with back tightness since Wednesday. Manager Brian Snitker expected Camargo would return March 21, but he admitted Thursday that the team may delay that return another couple of days.

Camargo could hit off a tee this weekend, Snitker added. He reiterated the injury is a minor concern, and the team simply is taking precautionary measures.

After bursting onto the scene in his rookie season, Camargo is competing for the starting third base job this spring. He’s played 12 games, collecting seven hits and eight RBIs in 29 at-bats.
