Former Atlanta Brave Jeff Francoeur takes his father, brother and best friend on a surprise gold trip to Scotland.

Former Braves rightfielder Jeff Francoeur has had a busy offseason. The Atlanta native, who had surgery to repair tendon problems in a hand, surprised family and friends with a trip to an unlikely adventure across the pond.

The trip included a host of Francouer's family and friends. About to tee off at Turnberry -- a golf course in southwest Scotland, site of the 2009 British Open -- were Francoeur's cousin Lee Reinke (from left); his dad's college friend Wally D'Atri; family friend Will Steih; Jeff's brother-in-law Barrett Karvis; Francoeur; his brother D.J. Francoeur; his father, David Francoeur; and Francoeur's uncle Bill Labreque (kneeling).

Francoeur and his brother, D.J. Francoeur (right), in front of the clubhouse at Kingsbarns, a golf course along the Scottish coast. D.J. Francoeur had the round of the week, shooting a 73 at St. Andrews.

Francoeur did manage to fit some charitable work into his offseason. He took the time in early December to visit with kids from a Brooklyn, N.Y., school and hand out gifts dressed as Santa Claus.
