Future Hall of Fame pitchers Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux made their careers as Atlanta Braves.

Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux were teammates from 1993 until 2003 in Atlanta. Their careers were cemented as Braves. The two former Braves and 300-game winners headline a list of 19 first-time candidates on baseball's 2014 Hall of Fame ballot.

Tom Glavine made his major league debut with the Atlanta Braves in 1987, going 2-4 with a 5.54 ERA in 9 starts. Over a 15-year career with the Braves, Glavine had 505 starts (52 complete games) going 242-143 with a 3.37 ERA and more than 2,000 strikeouts.

Greg Maddux joined the Braves in 1993 and went on to lead the league with a 2.36 ERA for the first time while posting a 20–10 record. He won his second of four Cy Young Awards.

Left-hander Tom Glavine was a five-time 20-game winner and two-time Cy Young Award winner, and one of only 24 pitchers (and just 6 left-handers) in major league history to earn 300 career wins.

Greg Maddux made his major league debut with the Cubs in 1986. In two stints in Chicago that spanned 10 years, Maddux had more than 1,300 strikeouts with the Cubs, going 133-112 with a 3.61 in 302 games.

More than just a stellar pitcher, Greg Maddux was among the best fielders at his position. He won 18 Gold Glove Awards total (1990–2002, 2004–2008), winning a record 13 straight.

Tom Glavine was among of the better-hitting pitchers. Glavine hit .200 in nine season, averaging .186 over his career. Glavine had his best year behind the plate in 1996 - scoring 8 runs, off 22 hits with a .289 batting average.

Greg Maddux was the first major league pitcher to win the Cy Young Award for four consecutive years (1992–1995), a feat that has only been matched by Randy Johnson. In that time span, Maddux went 75-29 with a 1.98 ERA.

In 1995, Greg Maddux had one of his best regular seasons. Maddux had a 19-2 record with a 1.63 ERA in 28 starts - 3 of them shutouts. His 7.87 K/BBs ratio was best in the league.

Tom Glavine pitched in five World Series (1991, 92, 95, 96 and 1999) while with Atlanta. The Braves captured their first World Series title over the Cleveland Indians, in part to Glavine's heroics, who pitched eight innings of one-hit shutout baseball in deciding Game 6. That was Glavine's second win in the series and he was named MVP.

Traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Cesar Izturis in 2006, Greg Maddux had 12 starts as a Dodger. In 2008, the San Diego Padres again sent Maddux to the Dodgers in a midseason trade. In his final season in the majors, Maddux posted an 8–13 record. His 1.4 walks per 9 innings pitched were the best in the majors. Maddux retired as a Dodger at the age of 42.

Tom Glavine left Atlanta in 2003 and joined the New York Mets, pitching in 164 games over five seasons. Glavine was a two-time All-Star with New York (2004 and 2006), earning a 61-56 record and a 3.97 ERA. Glavine won the 300th game of his career - at the age of 40 - while with the Mets.

The Atlanta Braves honored Tom Glavine, who waves to family and fans, with a uniform number retirement in a pre-game ceremony at Turner Field on Aug. 6, 2010. Glavine's No. 47 was the seventh Braves uniform number retired.
