The Gwinnett Braves won their second consecutive game to start the season, defeating Norfolk 4-2 on the road Friday night.

Mallex Smith followed his 2-for-5 night Thursday with an 0-for-5 night Friday.

Rio Ruiz was 1-for-2 on Friday, with an RBI single. Tyler Moore, acquired by the Braves late in spring training for Nate Freiman, was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. He delivered a two-run homer in the top of the ninth that produced the margin of victory.

Mike Foltynewicz started for the G-Braves and pitched four innings. He allowed two hits and both Tides runs, and he walked five batters while striking out one.

Ryan Weber pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief, allowing three hits and no runs. He struck out one.

Two former Braves played for Norfolk. Joey Terdoslavich was 0-for-5, and Paul Janish was 1-for-4.

The teams are scheduled to meet at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, with Aaron Blair starting for Gwinnett.
