Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz will pitch in a minor-league game Friday and Triple-A Gwinnett’s season opener April 4 as he works his way back into Atlanta’s rotation.

Foltynewicz spent most of spring sidelined by a sore elbow. He’s expected to throw 50 pitches Friday, setting him up for a longer outing April 4.

How many other starts Foltynewicz needs will depend on his progress, but he remains on track to rejoin the Braves in mid-April.

Rehabbing reliever A.J. Minter also is scheduled to pitch in Gwinnett’s opener. The right-hander pitched in a minor-league game Monday. He’s expected to return in early April from shoulder soreness.
