Braves right-hander Shelby Miller is among the NL leaders in several categories and he set an Atlanta franchise mark by becoming the first pitcher to allow two earned runs or fewer in each of his first seven starts.

Miller has less control over winning but that’s been going well, too: The Braves are 6-1 in his starts and look to add another victory on Sunday against the Marlins.

“That’s the only thing you want to do is go out there and give us an opportunity to win the game,” Miller said. “At the end of the day, it’s what we play for. The game is really not that fun when you are losing.”

Miller has been an instant hit for the Braves after they acquired him from the Cardinals as part of the Jason Heyward trade.

Entering Saturday Miller ranked among the top 10 in the NL in pitcher wins above replacement (second), ERA (tied for second), wins (tied for seventh) and walks and hits per innings pitched (fifth). Mets right-hander Matt Harvey was the only other NL pitcher to rank in the top 10 in all four categories.

The only Braves loss with Miller on the mound was a 5-1 decision to the Reds on April 30. In that start Miller only allowed two earned runs in seven innings, on back-to-back home runs by No. 8 hitter Tucker Barnhart and pitcher Mike Leake.
