Braves second baseman Tommy La Stella was forced from Monday’s game against the Dodgers in the second inning with cramping in his right hamstring, the team said.
After the game La Stella said he had “no problems” with the hamstring and planned to be back in the lineup on Tuesday.
“Unless I wake up with some unexpected soreness or anything like that I should be good to go,” La Stella said.
La Stella went to his left to field a ball hit by Carl Crawford before pulling up and holding his hamstring as the ball went into the outfield for a base hit.
“It was just kind of an awkward step,” La Stella said. “I was anticipating making a dive but the ball was hit a lot harder than I thought and I had to stop myself and kind of felt it. It didn’t really feel like a cramp, which is why we were concerned. But after coming back here (in the clubhouse) and doing all the tests and stretching and strengthening, it was just a cramp.”
Ramiro Pena replaced La Stella in the lineup and went to shortstop while Emilio Bonifacio moved from shortstop to second base.
