How the winning run scored: Designated hitter Stefan Gartrell drove home three runs with a third-inning home run to left-center, giving the Gwinnett Braves a 6-2 lead over visiting Rochester on Thursday night.

At the plate: Gartrell was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Todd Cunningham had the G-Braves' only other extra-base hit, a triple. Jose Constanza, Tyler Pastornicky and Joey Terdoslavich each was 2-for-4. Pastornicky extended his hitting streak to nine games.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Omar Poveda (4-3) pitched six innings (111 pitches) and gave up three runs on eight hits and four walks.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (26-36) and Red Wings (28-33) conclude their series at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. Gwinnett left-hander Yohan Flande (3-4, 4.12 ERA) is scheduled to start against lefty Andrew Albers (3-2, 3.53).
