Braves new center fielder Nate McLouth

The Braves traded for Pittsburgh outfielder Nate McLouth Wednesday.

Braves fans, meet your new center fielder, Nate McLouth.

The Braves acquired McLouth Wednesday in exchange for three prospects.

McLouth, 27, made the All-Star team last season and won a Gold Glove. He is in his fourth season in the major leagues.

After hitting .276 with a league-high 46 doubles, 26 homers and 94 RBIs in 2008, McLouth has hit .256 with nine homers, 34 RBIs and a .349 OBP this season. He also has seven stolen bases, after stealing 23 in 2008 and 22 in 2007.

Charlie Morton appeared in 16 major-league games for the Braves in 2008. He was traded to Pittsburgh the following season as part of a package for outfielder Nate McLouth. Morton returned to the Braves during the 2020 offseason. AP photo.

Shortly after announcing that the Braves had released pitcher Tom Glavine, GM Frank Wren broke the news about the trade.
