Braves left fielder Justin Upton left in the eighth inning of today’s game against the Dodgers after he suffered a hamstring injury while sliding into third base.
The Braves said Upton has a mild hamstring strain and is day-to-day.
“I got in (the clubhouse) and laid down and it kind of died down,” Upton said. “We’ll see tomorrow. I’m not too concerned.”
Upton said he felt pain while running to third on Chris Johnson’s fly out to right field. He didn’t immediately leave the game but called timeout with the next batter, Tommy La Stella, at the plate.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez and trainer Jim Lovell came out to check on Upton, who eventually limped off the field. His brother, B.J., replaced him as a pinch runner.
Justin Upton had reached base on a two-run double. He leads the Braves with 21 home runs and 72 RBIs this season.
