How the game was won: Alex Wood pitched eight strong innings and Freddie Freeman went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs in the Braves' 8-1 victory against the Diamondbacks. Wood also had a two-run single and Andrelton Simmons added three hits for the Braves, who've won three in a row to move back above .500 (26-25) including 4-4 on a 10-game trip that began with two losses at Dodger Stadium. Freeman has homered three times in the past four games.

Number: .418. Freeman's career average in 13 games at Chase Field, where he is 23-for-55 with four home runs and 16 RBIs.

What's next: The Braves and Diamondbacks plays the second game of their three-game series Tuesday at 9:40 p.m. (EDT), with Atlanta ace Shelby Miller (5-2, 1.48 ERA) facing right-hander Josh Collmenter (3-5, 5.05).
