How the winning run scored: The Gwinnett Braves broke open a close game with a seven-run sixth inning Tuesday afternoon. The first three batters of the inning reached to load the bases for Jose Yepez, who drove home the first run with a sacrifice fly that gave the G-Braves a 3-0 lead.

At the plate: Six G-Braves batters had two hits, but none had more than two. Right-fielder Joey Terdoslavich was only 1-for-4, but he had his team's only extra-base hit (of 13) when he hit a two-run homer in the sixth.

On the mound: G-Braves starter Omar Poveda (5-3) shut out Columbus over six innings, allowing five hits and walking two. He recorded seven strikeouts.

Up next for Gwinnett: After a day off Wednesday, the G-Braves (28-39) begin a stretch of eight road games with a matchup against the Rochester Red Wings at 7:05 p.m. Thursday. Atlanta Braves right-hander Brandon Beachy is scheduled to make an injury rehab start against left-hander Andrew Albers.
