How the winning run scored: Buffalo's Kevin Pillar led off the eighth inning with a double, moved to third on a ground out to the pitcher by Ryan Goins and scored on a wild pitch thrown by Gwinnett's Wirfin Obispo. The run gave Buffalo a 4-3 lead Wednesday night over the host G-Braves.

At the plate: Gwinnett scored its runs in the bottom of the first. The team managed only five hits, all singles, and no batter had more than one hit. The G-Braves threatened in the ninth, getting runners on first and second with one out, but Stefan Gartrell struck out and Joe Leonard grounded out.

On the mound: G-Braves starter David Hale pitched six innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out six.

Up next for Gwinnett: The teams are scheduled to meet again Thursday. The G-Braves (35-46) right-hander Joe Bisenius (1-0, 4.76 ERA) is set to go against righty Chad Jenkins (0-3, 11.37) at 6:05 p.m. at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.
