The Braves keep losing games as catcher A.J. Pierzynski keeps reaching career milestones so he said it’s tough for him to enjoy the accomplishments.
Pierzynski played in his 2,000th career game on Thursday but the Braves lost 7-4 to the Phillies. He collected his 2,000th hit on April 27 at Boston in a game the Braves lost 9-4.
“It will be nice when I’m done when I look back to say that I did those,” Pierzynski said. “But both of them came in losses. You want to win. Milestones are great and whoop-dee-doo but at the end of the day if you don’t win the game it kind of takes the luster off of it until after you’re done (playing).”
Pierzynski, 39, is the eighth active player to appear in at least 2,000 games. He’s the 10th catcher with as many as 2,000 hits.
Pierzynski needs seven RBIs for 2,000 and five doubles for 400.
