Stephen Glass was promoted to manager of Atlanta United 2 on Wednesday. He will replace Scott Donnelly, who resigned in Dec. 2018.

Glass was formerly manager of Atlanta United’s U-17 academy team.

“Coming from our Academy, Stephen understands the club’s philosophy and is a natural fit for Atlanta United 2,” Vice President Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement from the team. “He is someone who embodies the club’s core values and recognizes what it takes to be an Atlanta United player.”

Atlanta United 2 plays in the USL. The second-year team will play its home games at Kennesaw State. The team will start training for the season on Friday. Its season will start March 9.

Glass helped the U-17 team go 6-2-4 last season.

Glass’s playing career included stops at Newcastle, the team that just purchased Miguel Almiron, Watford and Hibernian. His coaching career includes stops with the Carolina Rapids and Triangle Football Club.
