Atlanta United’s Josef Martinez was named the MLS Player of the Month for August. It was the second consecutive month he received the award.

Martinez broke the league’s single-season scoring record when he netted his 28th goal in a 2-1 win victory at Orlando City.

That goal was one of four, along with one assist, that he scored in three matches in the month.

The 25-year-old Venezuelan will lead Atlanta United in its next game at Colorado on Sept. 15.
