Though Atlanta United hasn't revealed if Josef Martinez sustained an injury to his left arm during Wednesday's training session, it is possible that, if needed, he can wear a cast while playing.

An MLS spokeswoman said that casts are allowed at the discretion of a referee, as long as it doesn’t present a danger to the player or other players.

Heavy, large casts aren’t allowed. Lightweight casts with padding and no sharp edges are normally acceptable.

The referee would need to examine the cast before the game, typically in the presence of the team doctor or the venue medical director.

Martinez, who has scored 24 goals in 25 games, left Wednesday's training session wearing what appeared to be an air cast on his left arm.
