The NBA announced the new date for the Hawks game against the Rockets that was postponed Saturday because of the weekend weather conditions.

The Hawks now will host the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28.

The NBA announced the postponement of the game “to prioritize the safety of the players, fans and staff” amid the snow and ice on the ground in metro Atlanta in the wake of Winter Storm Cora. The NBA said “the decision was made in consultation with local officials.”

The new date gives the Hawks their ninth set of back-to-back games this season, as the team already was scheduled to play at Minnesota on Jan. 27. After playing the Rockets, the Hawks will go back on the road for three games in five days.

That will be the Hawks' penultimate set of away games before the All-Star break, which runs from Feb. 13-19.

The Hawks have a few more road games before they face the Timberwolves, beginning with Wednesday’s game at the Bulls.
