INDIANAPOLIS — Louisiana Tech cornerback Myles Brooks thoroughly enjoyed his visit with the Falcons at the NFL combine.

Brooks, who was born in Austell, had a formal interview with the Falcons, who are looking for help in the secondary.

“First off, they were like a cool coaching staff,” Brooks said Thursday. “They started off with shooting a little hoops. That kind of broke the ice. They didn’t want you coming in nervous or having any nerves back there. Just come in and be you.”

New assistant head coach/defense Jerry Gray and new secondary coach Steve Jackson led the interview.

“Oh, yeah, they got me on the board,” Brooks said. “We went over what I ran in college.”

Brooks, who went to high school in Pflugerville, Texas, started his career at Stephen F. Austin (2019-21). He played one season for Louisiana Tech (2022) and was named second-team All-Conference USA.

He played in the East-West Shrine Bowl, where the Falcons served as one of the coaching staffs.

With Casey Hayward set to turn 34 next season and Isaiah Oliver headed for free agency, the Falcons need help at cornerback. Brooks, 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds, is considered a late-round pick.

“They are looking for somebody that can come in and at least compete at the end of the day,” Brooks said. “Just be a competitor. It doesn’t matter if you don’t get it from Day 1. Just come in and show that you are willing to learn and that you’re willing to compete at the highest level. "
