The Falcons used a standard practice squad flex to promote outside linebacker James Vaughters to the active roster and released outside linebacker Brandon Copeland on Sunday.

Copeland was re-signed on Monday.

Vaughters, formerly of the Chicago Bears, signed with the Falcons on Sept. 3. He played six snaps against the Eagles in the 32-6 loss.

NFL rules allow teams to move up, or flex, two players from the practice squad to the game day roster. Teams can use two standard practice squad flexes each week.
