Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson was injured by a Mets runner in a play at first base Wednesday night.

Hudson dropped to the ground and was immediately surrounded by teammates and coaches before being carted off the field. Hudson appeared to sustain an ankle or lower leg injury while covering first base in the bottom of the eighth inning.

As Hudson extended his right leg to the bag, the Mets’ Eric Young stepped onto Hudson’s lower leg, replays showed. Young immediately tried to help Hudson, who grabbed his head in pain.

Prior to being injured, Hudson was having a stellar game, allowing no runs and four hits while striking out nine.
