DeKalb County runoff elections: When and where to vote early
Several important DeKalb County races are heading to a runoff election scheduled for Aug. 11.
Advance in-person voting starts Monday, July 20, and will be offered for three weeks at three different sites. Two additional sites will open for the final two weeks, with all five locations available for weekend voting on Saturday, Aug. 1.
The full schedule is as follows:
Open the week of July 20 (8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday)
- Voter Registration and Elections Office (including a designated area for seniors and disabled voters): 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur
- The Gallery at South DeKalb Mall (use outside entrance next to Chapel Beauty): 2801 Candler Road, Decatur
- Dunwoody Library: 5539 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody
Open the weeks of July 27 and Aug. 3 (8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday)
- Voter Registration and Elections Office (including a designated area for seniors and disabled voters): 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur
- The Gallery at South DeKalb Mall (use outside entrance next to Chapel Beauty): 2801 Candler Road, Decatur
- Dunwoody Library: 5539 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody
- Reid H. Cofer Library: 5234 LaVista Road, Tucker
- Stonecrest Library: 3123 Klondike Road, Lithonia
Open Saturday, Aug. 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- All five locations.
A total of six contests are headed for a runoff. Two are countywide and the other four depend on where a voter lives.

- Ruth Stringer is challenging incumbent DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox in a countywide special election to fill the unexpired term of former Sheriff Jeffrey Mann. The winner will serve as sheriff for the remainder of the year.
- Yolanda C. Parker-Smith and Mindy Pillow are in a countywide runoff for the Superior Court judge seat being vacated longtime Judge Clarence Seeliger.
- In Commission District Super 6, which covers the western half of DeKalb, Democrats Maryam Ahmad and Ted Terry are vying to replace retiring Commissioner Kathie Gannon.
- In Commissioner District 1, Democrats Robert Patrick and Cynthia Yaxon are battling for the right to challenge Republican Commissioner Nancy Jester in November.
- In School Board District 3, Willie R. Mosley, Jr. and Deirdre Pierce are in the runoff.
- In state House District 86, incumbent Rep. Michele Henson is trying to fend off challenger Zulma Lopez.
