HOOVER, Ala. — Finally, after 11 teams, two SEC administrators and some dude from the National Football Foundation, the Georgia Bulldogs are due up at SEC Football Media Days.
The Bulldogs are first to the podium Thursday morning at The Wynfrey Hotel. Coach Mark Richt is being accompanied here this year by three senior players: outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins, wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell and offensive tackle John Theus. Ole Miss and LSU will round out the day and put a bow in 2015 Media Days.
Of course, Georgia’s quarterback competition likely will be a major discussion point on Thursday. But there is much more to get to than that. Like whether Brandon Kublanow is indeed going to be the new center as the preseason depth chart indicates. Or how different the offense might look under Brian Schottenheimer and who has emerged on the defense during summer workouts.
We’ll also find out today where Georgia and the rest of the SEC teams are predicted to finish this season. I’m going to predict that the Bulldogs will again be picked to win the East, followed closely by Tennessee with Missouri, Florida and South Carolina not far behind the Vols.
The West is going to be real interesting this year, too. I’m guessing Alabama will still get the nod from SEC writers, but a lot of people like what Auburn is bringing to the field this season. Look out for Texas A&M and LSU, as always, and Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State. The parity on that side this season is pretty incredible.
Seth Emerson, Mark Bradley and I will be posting stories early and often today, so be sure to check back frequently to catch all the latest from the Media Days.
