‘Walking Dead’ actor, Georgia firefighter dies of cancer

Dango Nguyen, a former firefighter and actor who appeared on “The Walking Dead,” recently died at age 48, according to the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department.

The department shared the news on Facebook Saturday.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we mourn the loss of one of our former firefighters,” the post read. “Dango Nguyen passed away early this morning after a hard-fought battle with cancer.”

Nguyen, also known by his stage name Dango Nu Yen, played a guard in several episodes of the third season of “The Walking Dead.”

After his stint on the Atlanta-based show ended, he made appearances on several other television series, including "MacGyver," "The Originals," and "Meet The Browns," according to his IMDB page.

Before pursuing a career in entertainment, Nguyen worked for the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department for 20 years.

The department said Nguyen is survived by his wife and family.

“He touched many lives,” the post continued. “We will all remember his quick wit, high energy, and unwavering determination. We all aspire to be ‘Dango Strong.’”
