Buried deep in a cave in South Africa, a pile of bones has scientists saying they have a discovered a new human ancestor, Homo naledi, National Geographic reported.
The remains have similarities between both humans and apes.
It had a small brain and what National Geographic described as "apelike shoulders for climbing." It also looks like it belongs in the human family tree, including a more-human foot, teeth and hands.
National Geographic uses a pretty neat animation to show just what parts of its anatomy are human-like, and which are primitive.

“Weird as hell,” paleoanthropologist Fred Grine of the State University of New York at Stony Brook later said. “Tiny little brains stuck on these bodies that weren’t tiny.”
Scientists also believe that Homo naledi did something else that humans do: buried their dead.
Thousands of bones were found together, appearing to have been left in the cave deliberately, The New Scientist reported.
