Bloomberg quotes a trucker in the area who told them, "Every day we have four or five trucks carrying Red Bulls to Syria."
Reports say the goods are going to ISIS members in several border cities. Some of the goods are re-sold at a profit. Others are taxed or fees are collected, lining the militant's pockets.
Former US Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone was more direct, saying, "Where there is no law, criminal gangs will extort all that the market will bear."
The trucker added, the people who take delivery of the goods are unidentified and, therefore, protected.
Other goods are passing through as well, including to an organization The Independent calls the "good wives of jihadi." "The Zora Foundation" uses social media and publications to teach "nursing, morale, and cooking advice for militants' wives."
Included are recipes designed to "replenish the mujahidin."
