The large crowd gathered at the Shoreham Airshow in southern England watched helplessly as the pilot of a fighter jet lost control and struck several cars on a busy highway.
The BBC reports that the jet was a Hawker Hunter T mark 7.
Flames and smoke could be seen from miles away.
Local authorities told the BBC that there were several fatalities and over a dozen people treated for minor injuries.
Several professional and amateur photographers captured the ill-fated flight on camera.
