LaGrange High School sophomore Jason Recinos-Mendoza recently won LaGrange Toyota’s second annual car giveaway, which awards one scholar with a Corolla based on their scholastic achievement, according to Columbus CBS affiliate station WRBL.

Recinos-Mendoza has earned A’s and B’s and has kept good attendance throughout his high school career.

More than 400 students were eligible, but Recinos-Mendoza’s was the lucky winner.

"I was so surprised and happy at the same time," he told WRBL. "I have my license and I am ready now. For any student who doesn't think it is possible, all you have to do is come to school, try your best, and get good grades. It does pay off."
