A British woman and three friends were freed from a Malaysian jail after pleading guilty to committing obscene acts in public.
Eleanor Hawkins, 23, and three other backpackers — sisters from Canada and a young man from Holland — stripped naked on a visit to Malaysia's Mount Kinabalu, a location considered sacred by many in Malaysia.
The four were arrested on June 9.
Besides the obscenity charges, they were also accused of being loud and publicly urinating in a pond. Residents later blamed their actions for sparking an earthquake that killed 18 people.
The four confessed to the nudity charges and were sentenced to three days in prison, equivalent to time served.
