An airplane bound from Houston to Istanbul made an emergency landing in Ireland Sunday after crewmembers discovered a reported bomb threat on board, according to multiple media reports.

The flight, identified as Turkish Airlines flight TK-34, left Houston around 9 p.m. CST Saturday, according to FlightAware.com. It was expected to land in Istanbul 11 hours later.

Around 4 a.m. CST, the plane made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport in Ireland after crew members discovered a note warning of a bomb on the plane, according to The Irish Times.

The plane was directed to a remote taxiway, where its 227 passengers and crew were evacuated, according to the paper.

A spokesperson for Shannon Airport confirmed to RT a plane had been diverted to the airport but declined to discuss the reasons for the diversion.

It was not immediately clear whether authorities found any evidence of the reported bomb.
