Nickelodeon has partnered with SmartStudy's Pinkfong, the entertainment company behind the viral song, to develop an original preschool animated show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The program will be for global distribution through Nickelodeon.

“‘Baby Shark’ is a multiplatform phenomenon, and appetite for more content and products is strong around the world,” Pam Kaufman, president of Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products, said in a statement. “Our content team is excited to develop a terrific original animated series that will bring this property to new heights and even more fans.”

The social media sensation made its debut on YouTube in 2015. Since then, it's amassed 2.9 billion views on the platform. It also spent 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 list and spawned the #BabySharkChallenge online.

No word yet on when the series will debut.
