Looking for a place to celebrate the holidays? You don't have to stray too far, because Atlanta has been named one of the best winter destinations in America, according to WalletHub.
To determine the rankings, the personal finance site compared the 60 largest metro areas, grouped as “warm” or “cold,” using 32 key metrics.
Factors included cost of cheapest flights, diversity of attractions and cost of three-star hotel rooms. Those were categorized into six major sections: travel costs and hassles; local costs; attractions; weather; cold-weather activities; and safety.
Chicago and Portland placed first and second, respectively, for winter-weather lovers. But Atlanta wasn’t too far behind at No. 11.

As for the best warm-weather destinations, Orlando and Las Vegas took the No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Both locations earned the top two spots thanks to the high number of attractions and great weather.
ATL wasn’t the only Georgia city on the list overall. Augusta was No. 25 for best warm-weather destinations.
