A Sandy Springs woman was seriously injured after being shot several times Sunday afternoon, allegedly by her child’s father, according to police. Late Sunday, police issued warrants for the man’s arrest.

Shawn Crew, 38, was shot around 5:30 p.m. in a stairwell at the Chastain Apartments at 4550 Roswell Road, according to Capt. Steve Rose with Sandy Springs police. Crew was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Rose said Monday that she is expected to recover from her wounds.

Police believe the suspect, 42-year-old Matthew Terry, is the father of the woman’s baby, Rose said. The couple’s 4-year-old child was nearby at the time of the shooting, but was not injured, Rose said. The child was being cared for by family members Sunday night.

Terry allegedly fled after the shooting and remained on the run hours later. Warrants were issued late Sunday for Terry on aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony charges, Rose said.

Terry is 5-feet-9 inches tall and weighs 227 pounds. He was last seen in the victim’s Mercedes C-280 with New York license plate FLX-3586. Terry may also be in a black Cadillac Escalade with a New York license plate ETJ-6098.

Terry is from New York and has possible ties to North Carolina, according to police. He was still at large Monday afternoon, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on Terry’s whereabouts should contact police.
