Fayette County authorities are investigating the shooting of a woman while she was driving her car Monday night.

The woman, who was not identified, told deputies she was shot on Highway 85 near Roberts Road. She was in the car with her 15-year-old granddaughter when a dark, older model vehicle pulled up next to her, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

At least one round was shot from the neighboring vehicle and both cars were moving, the woman told deputies. She drove to a nearby gas station in Clayton County, where she called 911.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department at 770-716-4750.
