A woman was killed early Friday in a crash that closed an I-20 ramp in downtown Atlanta for two hours.

The woman was walking on the ramp from the Downtown Connector to I-20 West when she was hit by a vehicle and killed about 5:45 a.m., Atlanta police said. An investigation shut down the ramp until 8 a.m., when authorities cleared the scene.

Police are working to determine what led to the deadly incident, and did not say why the woman was walking in the road. She was not identified.

It was not clear if the driver who hit the woman stayed at the scene. Police said Friday that while her death remains under investigation, no charges are anticipated.

Authorities removed a body from the interstate ramp on Friday morning.

Late last month, police investigated another pedestrian death on the Downtown Connector. A man was hit and killed after first surviving a rollover crash and getting out of his vehicle near Langford Parkway. He was hit when he hopped over a median, according to police.
